Microsoft Excel Refresher

Do you want to refresh and develop your Microsoft Excel skills? This course is ideal for those with some Excel knowledge who are looking to refresh their skills and start to use some of the additional elements of Excel in a practical, hands-on session.

Training details

This interactive and practical course will allow you to refresh your understanding of the functions in Excel and develop a more in-depth knowledge of how to use spreadsheets more efficiently. It will help increase your overall ability and confidence in using Excel and you will have time to practice techniques in the session.

Who should attend?

This session is appropriate for any organisation staff, volunteers or trustees and ideal for those who have some experience of using Excel. You will need to bring a laptop and mouse to use during the session.

What will I learn?

You will leave the session with some practical tools to ensure you have the ability and confidence to use spreadsheets effectively within your work.

By the end of this session you will be able to:

  • Freeze rows / columns 
  • Prepare a spreadsheet for printing 
  • Use basic formulae 
  • Use SUM, AVERAGE, COUNT 
  • Use IF Statement 
  • Understand Absolute Values 
  • Use Conditional Formatting 
  • Create graphs 

Trainer - Gary Gibbs

Gary has had a varied career and is an experienced trainer, having trained people in health and safety, databases, consumer driven product development and food science. He started his career as a research and development scientist using excel extensively for data analysis and reporting and later moved into the food industry where he used excel for business analysis combining large data sets to do commercial analysis on how the company’s products were performing in the marketplace. Most recently Gary has created spreadsheet to mail merge invoices, track projects and imported research questionnaires into online applications for use in clinical trials. He loves a spreadsheet!

Cost:

£40 per person for OCVA Members
£55 per person from a charitable organisation who are not OCVA members
£70 per person from a non-charitable organisation


Time:
9.30 am – 12.30 pm. There will be a short break during the session.
